About WAICC
WAICC is a Private Association of Christ's Faithful in accordance with the spirit of Christifideles Laici, the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation of John Paul II, on vocation and the mission of the Lay Faithful.

Hence its identity and role is determined by Canon's 321 - 329.

Our Mission
Lay a firm foundation for the unification of the Indonesian Catholic families in the Archdiocese of Perth;
Deepen and strengthen the Catholic faith amongst members;
Maintain and bear mutual respect to one another's customs and traditions so they can be introduced to the local community in Australia;
Provide some understanding of the local culture to the new comers and to introduce them to the local parish.

History of WAICC

WAICC was founded in 29th November 1992.
Since there was more and more Indonesian Catholics coming to Perth, Western Australia to settle with NESB (Non English Speaking Background) have generally some language barrier in their new home.
The need to have a 'place' to accommodate their spiritual as well social needs with an Indonesian atmosphere became more profound.
WAICC is in fact acting as a cushion to minimize the impact of cultural shock, or bridging two different cultures. WAICC has recently celebrated its 10th Anniversary. The ten year journey was not without complications. Yet, these difficulties are the yeast to become more mature, stronger and wiser.
It started with as little as 45 families, but it grows to about 400s listed today.
Most of the Indonesian live in South of the River, also in Winthrop, Murdoch, Willetton, Leeming, Booragoon, Attadale, Applecross, Mt Pleasant and surrounding, and recently in the new suburbs. Those suburbs mention above are the centre place of Indonesians and the rest scatteed in other suburbs.
If in 1993 the community was only divided (only) into 3 areas - North of the River (NOR), South of the River I (SOR I) and South of the River II (SOR II), after 10 year in 2002 up to now it is divided in 5 areas.
One or two persons look after each area, they work together with the community service for pastoral care and together with the spiritual section for spiritual activities. They are also in charge of the distribution of WAICC bulletin and other announcements. These jobs are not always easy, especially for larger areas but with small number of Indonesian Catholics, like NOR.
